Who We Are, and What We Do…aside from having fun
The Music Factory – The Community Music School of West Central Ohio (a non-profit 501 (c) 3) began in 2002 with the mission to provide families with exceptional music instruction and theatrical training for all ages; and to enrich the community by offering outreach programs that serve the lives of the underprivileged and promote healthy parenting habits.
Who Do We Serve?
The Music Factory has been attracting students from Lima and several of the surrounding residential communities including Ada, Anna, Bluffton, Columbus Grove, Cridersville, Delphos, Elida, Findlay, Kalida, Minster, New Bremen, Ottawa, St. Marys, Van Wert, Wapakoneta, and Waynesfield. Our current student body of approximately one hundred fifteen students constitutes a growth of nearly ten times our initial student body count and serves as evidence that The Music Factory is succeeding in addressing the needs of West Central Ohio.
A Tax-exempt Organization
All donations made to The Music Factory are tax-deductable. Each contribution helps underwrite our Core Programming and Community Outreach Programs. Our Core Programming consists of two departments: the Kindermusik Department and the Instrumental Studies Department. We operate three Community Outreach Programs under the umbrella of The Music Factory: Inner-city Scholarships, Talent and Merit Based Scholarships, and Magic of Music Series.
The Music Factory’s Core Programming consists of our Kindermusik Department and Instrumental Studies Department. Kindermusik is a necessary component of our programming because it focuses on the total development of the whole child beginning at birth and continuing through seven years of age. The Kindermusik curriculum is designed by Kindermusik International and is based on cutting-edge research of child development and has been proven to fully stimulate emotional, musical, cognitive, physical, and language development. Many of our Kindermusik students enter into our Instrumental Studies Department between the ages of 3 and 5.
The Music Factory’s Instrumental Studies Department offers private instruction in violin, viola, harp, piano, voice, and guitar to children ages 3 and up. Adult students are welcomed. We also offer KinderChoir class to students ages 5-10 seeking a group introductory choir experience.
Community Outreach Programs
Inner-City Scholarships – The Music Factory’s Inner-City Scholarships program gives free music lessons to under-privileged youth. This on-on-one training adds focus to their education and gives them the advantage they need to become competitive for college scholarships and stipends.
Talent and Merit Based Scholarships –
The Music Factory’s Talent and Merit Based Scholarships program exists to underwrite a portion of the high cost associated with developing an extremely talented student. Sponsors of Talent and Merit Based Scholarships are seeking to aid students whose work ethic and gifts make them worthy of support.
Magic of Music Series – The Music Factory’s Magic of Music Series is a collection of presentations scheduled throughout the year for the elderly and the ill of our community. The presentations feature children playing music on their instruments and are hosed by a Music Factory instructor.
